When the PS5 Pro launches in November, several games will take advantage of the increased hardware capabilities, including Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2. Already visually stunning on the base PS5—an improvement over the original PS4 version—the game is now targeting a steady 4K resolution at 60fps on the PS5 Pro. According to a tech breakdown from Digital Foundry, it seems Naughty Dog is on track to meet this goal.
In their analysis, Digital Foundry showcased new footage of The Last of Us Part 2 running on the PS5 Pro. The game leverages the PS5 Pro’s power in combination with Sony’s PSSR upscaling technology, taking an internal resolution of 1440p at 60fps and upscaling it to 4K. The result is sharper visuals and smoother gameplay compared to the slightly softer graphics on the base PS5.
Notable improvements include more lifelike hair physics, enhanced environmental details, and a deeper depth of field. While a YouTube video doesn’t fully capture the experience of playing on a high-end gaming TV or monitor, the differences in quality are still striking.

"Overall, I'd say the PS5 Pro's rendition of The Last of Us Part 2 seems successful, even in this pre-release state. It delivers a credible-looking 4K image with excellent detail and good image stability at a virtually flawless 60fps," explained Digital Foundry’s Oliver Mackenzie.
Though some minor technical issues remain in this build, they’re unlikely to be noticed by most players. This version of the game will also feature the existing PS5 fidelity and performance modes, as well as the option to unlock the frame rate for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) displays.
If you’re looking for other games to enjoy with enhanced visuals, the PS5 Pro launch will offer a wide range of upgraded titles. Gran Turismo 7, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Microsoft's Diablo 4 are just a few examples of games receiving PS5 Pro enhancements. For those debating whether the $700 upgrade is worth it, GameSpot has recently gone hands-on with the PS5 Pro and shared their impressions, which you can explore for more insights.
