Reuben Langdon, the actor best known for portraying Dante from the Devil May Cry series and Ken Masters from Street Fighter, has reportedly retired from acting. Langdon has been a prominent figure in Capcom's games for many years, especially as the voice of Dante, a role he started in 2005 with Devil May Cry 3. Additionally, since 2009's Street Fighter 4, Langdon has voiced Ken Masters in several of Capcom's Street Fighter titles.

Throughout his career, Langdon reprised these roles in crossover games, such as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, his characters have since been taken on by other actors. David Matranga succeeded him as Ken's voice in Street Fighter 6, while Johnny Yong Bosch replaced him as Dante. Interestingly, Bosch is widely known for his role as Nero, Dante's nephew, making this transition surprising for fans. When asked about Langdon's absence from the role of Dante, Bosch revealed that Langdon had reportedly retired from acting.

Bosch shared this information on Instagram following the announcement of the new Devil May Cry anime directed by Adi Shankar. According to Bosch, Langdon left acting to focus on producing documentaries, and this decision was unrelated to Bosch's casting. In fact, Shankar had specifically written Dante's role with Bosch in mind, an honor that Bosch deeply appreciated.

Bosch also expressed his desire to bring Langdon back as Dante in a potential Devil May Cry 6, while Langdon himself has given his approval of Bosch taking over the role. Adi Shankar paid tribute to Langdon on Twitter, acknowledging his contribution to the series. Langdon’s last performance as Ken was in 2018’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and his final portrayal of Dante was in Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster.

The announcement of Bosch taking over as Dante has left fans divided. While some are excited to hear his interpretation of the iconic character, especially as it aligns with a younger, cockier Dante, others feel that Bosch might be an ill fit or find it hard not to associate him with Nero. Fans will have to wait until 2025 to see if this casting decision resonates with the beloved series.
